Sessions

mobicamp will feature a bunch of attendees giving their own (sometimes impromptu) talks.

So far, people have thrown these out as session topics:

  • iPhone - howto code something interesting (topic TBA)
  • 2d barcodes
  • GWT+PhoneGap
  • Co-located mobile networked experience design
  • Twitter API
  • Mobile Video Content Delivery - It’s harder than you think
  • Android Dev Basics
  • Development on WinMo and cool new WinMo stuff
  • Getting the most from Unconferences with your mobile device
  • and more

I’d second the idea of something iPhone-related as a topic; for another possibility, how about the Brightkite API?

Have at it, Noah. We’ll definitely have at least one iPhone 3.0 related talk as it is (on the technical side), given by return7 Co-Founder Drew Conner (@drewconner). This is pretty relaxed, I just wanted to let folks know what attendees had already promised to do. The more sessions, the more successful mobicamp will be. :)

Looks like it should be a blast! Thanks for organizing this. We should probably keep a collective eye on stuff going on with the Palm Pre launch too.

My pleasure. RE: Palm Pre — Yes definitely. I’m very interested in it as well. Applied for the dev program but dunno if I’ll get in. I wish I could get one to show off at Mobicamp.

Most phone makers will loan out prototypes or soon to be released models for any R&D if contacted and given enough time. May also want to contact AT&T and see if they are willing to loan phones to review… just a suggestion.

    great topics.
Like to suggest a Mobile Tweetups.com session to demonstrate how Mobile LifeStreaming, Unconference, TweetUPs, and Mobile Media can be use in business and Mobile Entertainment.

Interesting concept! Do you need any help with the winmo stuff? There is some really great (free) winmo software that could be featured in a session, such as trackr, Live Mesh, My Phone, Microsoft Tag, Qik. Let me know if I can help with a session.

Yes, absolutely. The more diverse the (and the greater the number) of sessions, the better. Perhaps a session about MS’s winmo marketplace in addition to some of these apps?

…how about a session on the intersection of ethos and mobile technology?

    I’m available!

    My suggestion:

What is being consumed in the Mobile Media marketplace?
What content is the iPhone/iTouch platform driving?

I will have the data from Nielsen on this topic.

I’d be happy to provide a short session highlighting what we’ve learned in 6+ years developing mobile learning solutions for the enterprise space versus the direct-to-consumer space mobile apps are best known for now. While the technology issues are similar, what’s delivered to whom and how it all happens is completely different in the enterprise with issues ranging from support for customer-created content, authentication/enhanced security, tracking, integration and more. To address these requirements, we’ve broadened our scope beyond a core SaaS platform to include on-device applets/widgets for BlackBerry, iPhone, WinMo, Android, Symbian/S-60 and netbooks as well as support for 2-way SMS, voice/IVR access and mobile web on any data-enabled device. And we can offer a Savannah perspective as well.

My colleagues and I at Vert Mobile would love to talk for 10 minutes or so regarding fully-integrated mobile advertising and marketing strategy from the brand perspective. This would cover a 360-degree approach to SMS, mobile web, mobile search, apps, mobile media, bluetooth, and all the measurement and analytics you can handle.

Call me if this is something we can discuss!

Session signups will take place at Mobicamp itself — there will be several rooms and folks will be able to sign up for a time slot to give talks. Attendees will basically make their own schedule in terms of when they will present and where/what they will attend. :)
